Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is Epione?
Epione is a chat for and by students. We work anonymously, free and provide 1-on-1 chat conversations. The students have had a training in cooperation with Awel vzw. We are funded by Gentse Studentenraad, Association UGent & Stad Gent.
2) Who can come to the chat?
Every student in Ghent, no matter which institution you are from! Please be courteous and patient, our volunteers are just other students trying to help out!
3) How do you guarantee privacy?
Every chatter can pick a nickname to stay anonymous, our operators are also anonymous and don't share personal details. We also can't see any other information about you as a chatter. The conversation can be seen only by the operator who chatted with you and the board members. Logs can be deleted on request.
4) How to contact you for other information?
Send us an email via epione@gentsestudentenraad.be or send a message via Facebook or Instagram. If you happen to see a board member, do reach out to them as well!
5) How can I stay in touch?
We have a Facebook and Instagram page. The links can be found in the part "about us" :)
6) I have a suggestion, question or complaint
As mentioned in 4), do send us an email, or leave feedback in the "postprocessing" of your chat conversation. As always, please be kind, we're doing our best to provide you with the warmest, kindest interactions. We are very open to constructive feedback.
7) I want to become a volunteer
To become a volunteer, you will have to follow a training day. If you want more information about our organisation, you can attend an info session or ask one online if you aren't able to attend one.
PRACTICALITIES: The training days are free, lunch is also provided. We strive to organise one or two training days per semester, often from 9 AM to 3.30 PM. Events are announced via our Facebook and Instagram, you do need to register before you come, so we can know how many people will attend (and eat with us). Please let us know in advance if you change your mind or can't come anymore, that way we can make sure that other people can take your spot.
IMPORTANT: We want to make everything as inclusive as possible, so oftentimes these training days are held at the Therminal, which is wheelchair friendly. Any other needs can be taken into account if you mail us beforehand.
